I am a Spiritualist and feel sorry for people that have no knowledge of the life, when we pass to the other side where our bodily defects are corrected and we can come back to our friends in one piece. If you wish to talk on the subject give me a call.

We live after death through our deeds and achievements in life. And our genes go on in our offspring.
Those who do great things live forever; Robert Burns or Sir William Wallace will never die as long as people speak their name. For our actual beings, there is just the void. Life is a one-shot deal so make of it what you can... and maybe your deeds will live forever. ------------------ The man o' independent mind, He looks an' laughs at a' that. |

Ahem, I happen to agree with RobHall. That's a woman's independant mind speaking. I myself have been heard my mom's voice several years after she died and I wasn't the only one, I was in a department store, when she called my name.
So Rob, "uh-oh" me anytime on ICQ, my number is 57941014. I talk with several who think as we do. ![]() ------------------ Gaol, Dilseachd, Cairdeas |

Of course Burns & Wallace are dead! I did say that when we die there is only the void. I was trying to illustrate that the only form of life after death (other than the continuation of our genes in our offspring) is in the thoughts or records of those who live after us. My grandparents are still alive in my thoughts. When I read the written words of a dead author, that person lives in my mind. For those who achieve greatness there will always be a place in the minds of the living.

Neil couldn't agree with you more on this. Not only in writers but it can also be filtered down to science, politics and even religion. Good or bad.
Lore is an important part of how we live our lives and leave our mark in this world. Some of us are better than others and wind up spiritually staying around longer than others. ------------------ Goose **************** "All science has one aim, namely, to find a theory of nature." It seems to me that those who believe in an eternal existence for themselves after their physical death run the risk of squandering this life, or, worse, living in subservience, in the hope of making up for it in the afterlife.
Far better, I believe, to make as much as you can of this life on the assumption that it's the only one you're going to get. Live THIS life to the full and do not die with any regrets. If, as I believe, there is no form of existence after physical death you have not squandered your only chance. If, on the other hand, there IS an afterlife then, hey, BONUS! ------------------ The man o' independent mind, He looks an' laughs at a' that. |
