Greetings,
I hope I can shed some light on this matter of "hearing from God," as it has caused difficulties since Adam and Eve walked out of the Garden. First, it does not mean that a person actually experiences an auditory hallucination (voices inside his head). Second, it does not mean he has a vision, though these do occur. Third, it does not indicate the person has verbal exchanges with God. What it may mean, and I do not speak for all believers, is that this person "sensed" some type of message from God. The person is using figurative speech in his attempts to describe a spiritual encounter with God. It is also called phenomenalogical language, such as the man describing a sunset, when actually the earth turns and moves you away from the light. I have often heard someone say that his dog "spoke" to him about the poor choice of dog food. We use language in marvelous ways to describe common experiences, and so do the believers within their religion. I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whom is the Savior of mankind. I pray to Him, and have heard from Him. I have never heard a voice, nor seen a vision of Him, but I do know He communicated to me His Will. To understand how to communicate with God is essential if we are to deepen our love relationship with the Lord God. He desires you to know Him, and to "learn" how to listen to His Voice. I have a website that is dedicated to helping people love God, and publish a daily devotional e-zine for this purpose: http://www.christiantestimonies.com. Come join in our journey to love God more and more each day, and to learn how to listen to Him accurately. God bless you all. Don Miller |

OK 1 or 2 people have already answered this one as well as or better than I could but heres a good book for anyone who needs some advice on talking with God; "The complete Idiots Guide to Prayer" published by Alpha Books ISBN 0-02-863108-0. It deals with this question and many others, though I would have to reccommend the bible itself 1st & foremost.
ps are there actually any scots in here or are you all american?!.. ------------------ ;o) <>< |

I wasn't going to get involved here as I'm not religious at all but I think I have christian values, "don't poke your neighbour in the eyes with stick ect"
I've always though that your own particular god was your conscience? How many times have you been doing something you shouldn't and then had second thoughts? You don't really hear a voice, I think it comes from within. Oh and as somebody who's been technically dead 4 times I can assure the non-belivers there doesn't appear to be either a heaven or a hell as we know it! Cheers Al Ps no we're not all American! ![]() ------------------ Stand up if you hate England... |

"Technically dead"! doctors might think you're dead when your heart stops for a given amount of time but Gods a wee bit smarter, so there could still be a heaven and a hell. ps for any doctors out there-WHY AM I STILL AWAKE?!...
