Buddhism in Scotland

I wouldn't call myself a Buddhist as such but i have learned a lot from the religion. Some people would say that Buddhism is not a religion and is more of a philosophy as there is no God and most buddhists are athiests.

Buddhism teaches you to deal with your own behavior, not that of others. It is about seeing yourself as you truly are, abstaining from attachment. It teaches that life ultimately leads to suffering; That this suffering is caused by egoistical craving; that the suffering will cease if the craving is taken away, and last but not least it teaches how to achieve the eightfold path - Noble Eightfold Path - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are genuinly interested in learning more about Buddhism then i will reccommend you visit this website which will explain everything you ever needed to know - Where to begin study and practice?

Also many people in Scotland do not know that we have the very first Buddhist centre in the Western World which is located at Eskdalemuir in the borders. It is a very large Buddhist Temple complex which welcomes visitors from all faiths to visit their peaceful surroundings and take walks around their grounds. It is a very beautiful place and you really do feel like you are walking somewhere in Asia.
