Of the top of my head, I would say that it has something to do with people coming together and not being loners or outcasts? it's not about getting someone else to read for you ? It's about people being together and sharing.
Sort of like going to a pop concert, when it would be easier just to buy a CD and listen to the music at home, in privacy ?Or maybe just sing a few tunes yourself ? Nah ! It wouldn't be the same, would it ?

I'm sure your beef with organised religion isn't just about people being so childish that they have to be read to ??? To become obsessively opposed to something just because a smart scientised thought it was childish ? is, erm, childish itself ?

I think you view organised religion as a threat of some sort ? A threat to something you believe in.
But Euro countries are going humanist/ pragmatist/rock solid down to earth.

What is your objection to Einsteinism.?

What is your objection to moving on?

Bearing in mind we have time/space travel problems.

Startreck is a load of balls we will never move about the universe in that way.

I have moved this thread as the Religion and Philosophy Forum seems a better venue for the resulting discussion.

Jobee has no idea what I'm talking about and I have no idea about whatever it is that he's talking about ?
Any attempt at discussion is pointless imo....Discussion over.

you did a runner, your silly religion should have read einstein instead of

praying to 'daddy in the sky' we must 'grow up' and listen to earthly talents.

Hmm... just chiming in but Jobee your posts seem to contradict each other, first you say that you don't care what people do in the privacy of their own homes, they can believe however they see fit but then you say you don't want people going to churches because they are from a time when people couldn't read and write. Well a church is private property and if people want to come together to worship why does that bother you; and why is it any different then worshiping in a private home. Would it be o.k. with you if we had our bible studies in a home instead of a church? And my biggest question of the night, why do you even care? You can choose not to participate (the glory of religious freedom) but lay off other people who choose to believe in the Creator.I would never post derogatory things about your right to not believe, maybe we should all try for mutual respect of each other's beliefs.

how cant there be a 'caring' creator when even the planet has to die.

all suns /stars die Its just nature at work.

read the life cycle of suns on your pute

the next solar system like ours is 73 thousand 'years' away at current speeds.

what .caring' god would leave us in that situation
