I'm not convinced by it. There are too many other social and economic factors that encourage crime. Western Europe is mostly secular while in the US religion has greater influence but their social problems and crime rates aren't too dissimilar.

Not a crime but frowned on. But religion has cured nothing.


(Teenage pregnancy has less tragic consequences than violence but it is usually unwanted, and it is frequently associated with deprivation among both mothers and children. In general, it is a Bad Thing.)
