Why Smithfield Market (apart from him getting done there) ? Was The Tower too crowded with ghosts already ? How about Westminster Hall, where he was tried and condemned ? Mind you Charles I is probably strutting around there though I never saw him when I worked in Parliament. WW must have HATED Smithfield Meat Market before it closed down ! All that cutting, carving and blood must have brought back unhappy memories !
