That is what I meant.

I haven't met anyone yet in Scotland who will say they believe in God...
I'm sure there are people there who do, aren't there?

A few - but not many. We are no longer a Presbyterian-led country and all the better for it.

We are a secular society and religion is for most Scots a complete non issue but there are plenty of believers. In comparison to Americans however religious beliefs are pretty liberal. We don't have many fundamentalists.

Those who do don't feel the need to blast it into everyone's lugs. Religion, after all, is a private thing.

Actually, it really isn't - most forms of all kinds mention one's religion, don't they? Of course, I don't think many of us go about talking about our religions very often, which is probably what you mean. I have no idea what religion any of my neighbours are.

Well, many Americans seem to actively BOAST that they are Christians. That is totally different to the Scots. We believe that religion is a private matter and most do not choose to discuss or comment regarding religion.

I have to say that religion to me is a private thing...something that I point out to those
organisations that come a knocking at my door and try to tell me that their religion is better
than anyone elses !!
They are so persistant...is it any wonder that many including me at times do not answer
the door if we know they are in the area !!
