Pseudo-intellectuals are always trying to get us to believe that religion is on its way out, been doing that for years and years. But seems to me that people are more interested in spiritual matters than ever before. We have churches here where there are over 2,000 people meeting every Sunday - amazing, isn't it.

Can you link to studies providing evidence for that?

Celyn, Google 'large Christian churches' - there is much material online about how large so many churches are getting. I was amazed recently to see a film about Christianity in China - it's amazing what is happening there. Also, in Korea.

I'm interested in spiritual matters but my interest in organised religion is non existent and I don't have any belief in a personal God either. In Scotland religion is in freefall decline and most Scottish Christians don't dispute the fact.

No, I don't think that's how it works. It's hardly my job to provide evidence to support your assertion.

Why do Americans feel that they know best about the religious beliefs of the whole world?

I doubt Americans feel that way at all. At least I've never met people like that, not saying there might not be someone in United States who feels that way. I think we are very curious about religions, however.

Then you have our missionary churches - these do send missionaries to different places in the world to spread 'the word of God.'

We certainly have our fair share of religious fanatics too.

It seemed like no one was going to church 10 years ago, but that has changed dramatically. Am not sure why. It's one of the things I'm curious about.
