Bang on, KK, about the apposite name. How about it DV? ARE you the owner or administrator of this site? If you are, this place is doomed. How about the answer to my first question?

I don't suggest that anyone be criticised for exploring any phenomenon however the words metaphysical and supernatural define these phenomena as being outwith the boundaries of science. You can come up with any amount of theories and conjecture but unless there is solid evidence to support your opinions no one needs to believe they are true. That is why atheism is the logical default and atheists are quite right to question the validity of any belief that is not founded on viable scientific evidence.

Dawkins attacks all forms of religion, organised or disorganised, fundamentalist or pacifist, animistic or pagan. He simply hates the notion of a God. Afterall his book is called "The God Delusion". That title itself is self-explanatory which not surprisingly, have been known to offend other Atheists who do not share his Militant views and calls to eradicate all forms of religion from the face of the earth. Even Wolpert, (an Atheist author himself) knows when to give religions credit where credit is due.

But to get back to my previous point why is no one within the religious community willing to challenge his views directly if they are indeed so flawed? He's entitled to express any opinion about religion he wants- it might of course be hopelessly flawed- but unless religionists are willing to try and challenge him directly it only adds to his credibility. There is a lot within organised religion that is thoroughly rotten, in fact I would even use the term cancerous. Many aspects of evangelical Christianity are a blight on western society and they need to be addressed and tackled head on and if that means attacking all religious belief so be it- the end justifies the means.

Exclamation Closing Thread

Unfortunately I have to close this thread. It has degenerated into a "battlefield".

I think everyone needs to be reminded of the following:

- Scotland.com is open to people of all belief systems, races, nationalities and backgrounds. As such it is important that we all show due consideration for each other.
- The forums are not here for people to make attacks on each other. You can state what you believe/think without getting personal or insulting others opinions/beliefs.

Whether you are Christian, Atheist, Agnostic, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim etc. you will abide by the rules of the forum. These rules have been put in place to ensure pleasant discussion and healthy debate. No one should feel they can't post something because someone else will shoot them down. You can state why you don't agree with that person, but you cannot attack them, tell them what they are saying is nonsense and the like.

I trust I will not need to close any further threads.
