Seconded. In many places in Scotland, Christianity is fast becoming as much a myth as all the other fairy stories told to keep people cowed and obedient.

In general, ministers and priests of whatever sect of the "nailed-to-the-bitty-wid" religion would come under that category too... given their track record on abuse.

The problem with stating that Britain being instrumentally protestant due to the history, is (while having some truth) is quite redundant. Our history (especially bringing in the religious aspects of it) is as it is because of Catholicism whether we want to agree with that or not.

most fundamental of this idea is that Catholicism had a hold on Britain for much longer that protestantism has and also the very fact that Protestantism is a different (updated?) version of Catholicism

catholicism and protestantism are both as much bullsh*t as each other one isnt updated over the other.
they are both simply the beliefs of primitive early man.

The article Gypsum used to start off this debate is a bit irrelevant though to Scotland...it talks about the Church of England as if this covers the whole of Britain...well....whether protestant or catholic - the main Christian domination in scotland is not the Church of England. Why don`t you actually debate a topic that has something to do with Scotland?
