New Documentary on Egypt and the Plagues

It is true that Egypt has suppressed data. Several Archeologist friends of mine way back in their heydey had run ins with Egyptian authorities whenever they tried to show what they had went against Egypts theories and whenever they wanted access to certain artifacts...politics and religion rather than science was the norm there...especially if it was bible related...the Egyptians would not co-operate at all..... It appears they are finally softening up a tad which is good news for archaeologists wanting to get at what is the truth, although I suspect it will be a very long time before science can be pure there. At any rate this documentary looks interesting. I won't have an opinion till I see it...but perhaps someone already has, if so ...how was it?

What is the use of intelligence when one lacks compassion for the life around oneself? And what is the point of beauty, when one's heart isn't one's loveliest feature?

Interesting article...

I wonder why the Egyptian authorities would want to hold back such archealogical data? Could it be because it could undermine Islam in any way?

That is exactly the impression my friends got - That they wanted to suppress any and all of it that contradicted them or threatened to contradict them in any way....there is also of course the actual FEAR in the Islamic world prior to lately when Imams said it was okay to read the Book...but note those are MODERATE Imams and they do not erase the real fear of those dealing with the firebrand kill you - chop off your hands types - there are a large majority in the Islamic world that do hate the Book with a passion. It is still Illegal to have a Bible in Saudi Arabia and they still burn the Book there. So some may simply fear having anything to do with it or fear being accused of dealing with those who deal with the Book....so it is a real pain to get at the truth.

so it is a real pain to get at the truth.
Hardly surprising. You get the same thing with most abrahamic faiths- anything that challenges their rather ludicrous and baseless idea of creation and the history of the earth gets promptly supressed. The west is known to do it too.

You say it is baseless and that is your opinion. Excuse us here while we continue our thread having read for the millionth time how much you detest religion....it is boring me yawn.....so I will ignore your comments on religion as the same old broken record stuff bores and annoys me .....you are more intelligent than that and can come up with something new....I hope....cuz this one is looong worn out....and you keep following ME with it.....this fish isn't interested lol! So tell someone else on their comment...quit haunting me with it....puhleeease.....I am feeling stalked lol!
at any rate you can gain access to the Vatican records for instance as one very well known author did many many years ago for her book.....you cannot do that in Egypt. We are talking the 20th and 21st centuries here not the dark ages.

The vatican isnt much better- there is zillion-and-one beurocratic manuevers involved for looking at vatican's records and those records are not, by the slightest means, considered impartial or accurate in their scholarship.

The Vatican is a vast museum and repository of all the donations and works over the ages that were sent by conquering Catholic rulers and nations and rich Catholics bequething properties and estates, their holdings are sooo vast that many things have simply just sat there....there is far too much for anyone to spend any too much time being partial....their vaults make the Louvre and the Smithsonian look insignificant. Having worked in Museums and actually catalogued collections I can speak this with some authority...it takes many many years to even make a dent in one of the corners little lone the vast holdings of the Vatican. In fact the property of the Vatican is so vast even they dont know how much they own...an audit discovered not too many years back that it was beyond their scope and abilities to do....so forging documents or any other such thing is hilarious.....somewhere in that heap is counter documents etc.....there is far too much to get anal about.
