You do realise that once you make an intelligent post, people might actually start taking you seriously Until that time however, have fun acting as childish as my 5 year old cousin. And you wonder why you are treated as one |

I don't even know half of the above nonsense means.
I find it impossible to debate with someone whose understanding of grammar is almost as bad as their grasp of basic logic and philosophical principles. But I'll have a go. So, Dr. James, if I claim that there are more purple horses on this planet than there are black horses, I must be right because you can't prove me wrong because you can't guarantee that you could get every single horse into one room so that they could be grouped by colour and counted. As far as I can tell, that is your take on the logical argument for the existence of God. Whereas my take goes something a little bit like this: There are a lot of black horses about. I've never seen a purple one and I don't know anyone who's seen a purple one. I can't imagine any possible reason that a purple one might exist. I can't see any historical evidence to say that a purple one would be of benefit to it's kind. I think that if anyone claimed there to be more purple horses than black horses just about the whole world would look at them a bit funny. I think that the only people who might believe that there are enough purple horses to even warrant a debate on the topic would be children who had lived extremely sheltered lives and not been allowed the access to all the evidence nor been sufficiently made aware of the facts to form an educated opinion. I will however happily give them the benefit of my knowledge, happily allow them to continue believing what makes them comfortable, and refrain from trying to impose my beliefs upon them. If you really want to make an impact on anyone's life you must first understand that if it is true that all crows are black it is not necessarily true to say that all black things are crows. Post something of intelletual worth and people will consider your views. |

Excuse my grammar, Sir Professor. I hope what I, this mere ignorant git, types is legible. So here we go. I will ask you the same questions I asked your other unbelieving cohorts. How on your unbelieving worldview can you justify the laws of logic? Are the laws of logic sociological or biological in nature? Pick your poison. If you are desirous to inform yourself of this type of argumentation you can look up Greg Bahnsen's book Always Ready or any of Cornelious VanTil’s work. Any argument I have will be borrowed from these titans. So the questions stand.

Strangely enough, it wasn't your grammar that had bothered me, but it's probably best for you to be a bit paranoid anyway.
Ok, we know that logic works because just about everything runs on it. I understand that the naming of the positive and negative systems are completely arbitrary, but their validity and actually existence (or non existence in the case of the zero state) are just there whether we name them or not and whether we are aware of them or not (unless you're one of those folk who thinks the universe disappears when they close their eyes). Something either "is" or it "is not", unless you'd like to argue about the existence of everything, not just a rediculous deity. I am aware of and understand all the wonderful philosophical arguments regarding logic and the proof of it's value, but they're all basically argued by people trying to be smart arses. And those people are usually trying to be awkward about the validity of others' arguments because their own arguments are rather weak. Good luck with that. |
