I think the point is that you will have abuses in all areas of life, including issues of faith. Wherever you have people, you will have abuse on one level or another. Doesn't make it right. However, it also doesn't invalidate the positive.

Wow! I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

There is so much humor in these statements. For starters, if it were up to me I would gladly give them Alabama, Mississippi, and South Carolina. The humor is in the fact though that these states (especially Alabama and Mississippi) are already very strongly christian states. It's not called the bible belt for nothing.

The ridiculousness aside, these people clearly have some things in common and it is not Christianity. It is they are wealthy, white, heterosexual, and male. And of course, those qualifications make them more righteous than Christianity ever could.

That depends on what you mean by "toleration and acceptance." "Hate the sin, love the sinner" is a concise way of stating Christianity's attitude towards immoral behavior.

People believe that their beliefs are true. People believe that others will benefit by believing in true beliefs instead of false beliefs. Therefore people attempt to convince others to accept their beliefs. Everyone does this, Christians, Moslems, Atheists, etc. The only exceptions are people who believe that everyone will ultimately be saved, e.g. Buddhists, liberal Christians.
