Shabbat 6 Adar 5764, February 28, 2004

This week's Reading list:
* Shemot / Exodus 25:1-27:19
* Melachim Alef / Kings 5:26-6:13
* Mattityahu / Matthew 5:33-37

I did not have to read very far into this week’s Parsha, before HaShem (the L-RD) revealed to me what I should write about. It amazes me how I can read the same verses each year, and each year get from them a different perspective of our G-d. The only explanation I can give of for this, at the moment, is that the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), as one grows in their relationship with HaShem, reveals different aspects of the Scriptures at different stages in our growth. This of course is all part of the sanctification process and the work of the Ruach HaKodesh as He continually reveals HaShem to us.

Shemot {25:1} HaShem spoke to Moshe, saying, {25:2} "Speak to the bnei Yisrael (children of Israel), that they take a korban (offering) for me. From everyone whose heart makes him willing you shall take my korban. {25:3} This is the korban which you shall take from them: gold, silver, brass, {25:4} blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats' hair, {25:5} rams' skins dyed red, sea cow hides, acacia wood, {25:6} oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense, {25:7} onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod and for the breastplate. {25:8} Let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. {25:9} According to all that I show you, the pattern of the tent, and the pattern of all of its furniture, even so you shall make it.

What we have in this passage of Scripture and in fact in all of Parsha Terumah are HaShem’s specific instructions. He tells how to build, adorn and more specifically exactly what material to use on the house He has chosen to dwell in. In other words, HaShem did not what bnei Yisrael to just build Him any old house, in any old way they wanted to build it; using whatever materials they wanted to use, in whatever way they wanted to use them. He had a specific model in mind and that specific model had to be followed to the exact detail, any deviation from it would have rendered the house uninhabitable for the Kadosh (Holy / Separate) One.

Our G-d is kadosh and as we have studied in the past, the translation of our English word holy came from the Hebrew word KADOSH, which actually means SEPARATE. Therefore, everything about this dwelling place emphasized the “separateness” of HaShem and the levels of separateness involved in approaching Him. For instance, we can observe that the closer we get to the Kodesh HaKadashim (Holy of Holies) the building materials used become progressively more precious until we get to the Aron HaKodesh (the Ark of the Covenant). It is over the Aron HaKodesh where the Shechinah (Shakinah) Glory of HaShem lived. Therefore, we are told it was to be made from the purest of pure gold.

There is a very important conclusion we can come up with in reading and understanding these Scriptures on the building of the Mishkan (Tabernacle). HaShem will not dwell in any old house! He expects His house to be built according to His specifications and not ours. And, He expects everything about His dwelling place to represent his Holiness / Separateness. Now that we know this fact as given directly from Scripture, take this into consideration:

Korintim Alef / 1 Corinthians {6.19} What? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Ruach HaKodesh which is in you, which you have of HaShem, and you are not your own? {6.20} For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify HaShem in your body, and in your spirit, which are HaShem's.

It amazes me how many people violate the holiness of HaShem’s dwelling place by the way they treat their temple. I am not talking here just about sexual sin, to which Shaul (Paul) was referring when he wrote these words to the Corinthians. Nor am I minimizing the requirement of keeping your body sexually pure. What I am speaking about rather is the lack of respect, the lack of honour, the lack of holiness with which many people treat the dwelling place of the Ruach HaKodesh.

I have had the opportunity to observe how people act and speak to each other. They are one way when they are in synagogue and another way when they are at their homes or even in the parking lot of the congregation. They act and speak one way when they are with other believers but another, totally opposite way, when they are alone with their spouses, children, co-workers or friends. You would also be amazed, as I was, to find out just how many believers in Mashiach Yeshua (Messiah Yeshua) are involved in viewing pornography of one sort or another. How about how people address HaShem? I am sorry to say that I have heard many people address our creator, in language and terms, many of us would have been disciplined for, if we had addressed our parents that way. How about the movies you watch or the television shows you cannot miss or the clothing you wear, are they indicative of a holy, separate life?

I think we have learned quite clearly from this week’s Parsha that HaShem will not and does not live in a house of our own design, specifications and materials. Our lives need to conform to His standards because He is the standard! So ask yourself this question today. Does your life reflect the purity and separateness (holiness), to qualify you as HaShem’s dwelling place?

I know that Mistress and I both have asked you multiple times to post your sermons in one continuous thread. We also know that you post the same thing on mulitple VCI sites.. which initself can be considered spam. We are again asking that you adhere to what we have asked. If you can not.. then I will be forced to start deleting them.
Thank You
