You will never find anyone saying, 'During times of enscripturation -- that is, when new revelation was being given -- sola scriptura was operational.' Protestants do not assert that sola scriptura is a valid concept during times of revelation.
James R. White
1. According to the doctrine of sola Scriptura, Scripture is the only infallible rule of faith for Christians, and all of the important truths of the Christian religion are taught therein.

2. Sola Scriptura purports to be one of the important truths of the Christian religion.

3. Sola Scriptura must be taught by the Bible, or else it is self-contradictory, and therefore false.

4. Scripture was not the only infallible rule of faith for those who wrote the New Testament; namely the Apostles, as they did not posses complete Bibles, but rather relied upon either their own recollection of the teachings of Christ, or upon oral tradition.

5. The Apostles did not practice sola Scriptura.

6. As, at the time of the Apostles, Scripture was not the only infallible rule of faith for Christians, none of the apostolic writings could have taught sola Scriptura to their immediate audiences.

7. The correct interpretation of Scripture cannot change over time.

8. None of the apostolic writings can teach sola Scriptura today.

9. The New Testament does not teach sola Scriptura.

10. If the Old Testament had taught that Scripture was the only infallible rule of faith for Jews, God's choice to deliver revelation orally by means of the Incarnation would have been a violation of divine precept.

11. God does not violate His own precepts.

12. The Old Testament does not teach sola Scriptura.

13. The Bible does not teach sola Scriptura.

14. Sola Scriptura is false.

Quote:
The Lord has made Himself a debtor, not by recieving, but by promising. Man cannot say to Him, "Give back what thou hast recieved" but only, "Give what thou hast promised."
(St. Augustine, Enarr. in Ps. 83,16)
1. If God makes a promise, He is obligated by His own justice to fulfill it, as He cannot sin.

2. In Scripture, God repeatedly promises that He will reward the good works and sufferings of His saints (Cf. Matt 5:12, Matt 25:34 et seq., Rom 2:6, 1 Cor 3:8, 2 Tim 4:6-8).

3. In the sense that God must fulfill His promises to reward the good works of His saints, the saints truly deserve heaven.

Quote:
2 Peter 2:1
There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will introduce destructive heresies and even deny the Master who ransomed them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.
1. When Scripture says that Jesus gave His life as a ransom for a sinner, the meaning is that He atoned for his sins (cf. Matt 20:28, Mark 10:45).

2. Jesus ransomed the the false teachers mentioned in 2 Peter 2:1, that is to say, He atoned for their sins.

3. The aforementioned false teachers were not among the elect.

4. Jesus atoned for the sins of the reprobate.

5. Limited atonement is false.
