Hmm, fair point, Axel.

I firmly support my countries stance on free speach (UK by the way) and I have real reservations about censorship regardless of the MINORITY view that causes offence. the idiot(free speech) that your link portrays is just that... an idiot(free speech). as long as he only excersized his right to free speech then I had no real problem with him. his diatribe about a "muslim UK" and "any means justifies the end" are only reported in the national press because papers today have to fight to find a sensationalist story. ( Go on the net and chat with guys in Iraq, Russia, India, US etc etc) today news is instant and uncensored.
If you checked you would find that the leader of the United Kingdom is actually the American Foriegn minister Tony Blair.... an altogether more dangerous character .... |

There is no country anywhere that doesn't have its radicals. Here in America we have our share. We have religious leaders speaking out against those who do not share their religious beliefs ( such as supporting bombings at abortion clinics) and even those who speak to over throw our govt and even men who would place a bomb in front of a bldg full of their own countrymen and detonate it killing men, women, and children. I speak of the Murrow Bldg in Oklahoma City.
However, you are speaking about freedom of speech and if you are an American you know that that is one of our basic rights. No one says you have to agree with what's being said. It seems lately we have forgotten at what cost that right was won in this country. People gave up their lives for that freedom and to condem is to say they died in vain. Sorry about the tangent folks!!!! |
