Talon, In and abouts I've seen the ol' " " represent a word or expression as to having a special-ness to it; as Celtic is used to identify peoples who no longer have anything perticularly incommon with the ancestory the "commercial" identity implies; a word or expression that might need special consideration et al...
So, in that context I used "survey" to give one an idea of what I was about in seeding this same query in a number of other "boards". And there is no slant to my query except to indicate the parameters of the query. |

still it was spammy
Many people are of Celtic heritage - just because many people use it for commercial gain doesn't lessen it's value to those with the heritage. Just don't assume that all British people are Celts.

Mamie,
I have no idea where you would think that I would asume that "British" people would be "Celtic". "British" people aren't; The Seven Nations are of that ilk. Hell, there might be as many "Celtic" people there in Canada, where you are as there are in the whole of Scotland. And there are many people who claim that the handle "Celtic" is epithet. This is interesting to me, since I'm from Scotland. Since I don't see the word as an epithet, I was surprised to find people who feel this way. Since you'd think a dot com that boasts Scotland as it's core, then what better place to see what others who might also be "Celtic" might think about the word that describes us to the rest of the world. Now, I ask a perfectly innocent question and people seem to prefer to ****e on my query rather than type with them. It seems. Seems typical...Why do you think that is, Mamie? |
