...do you hate it, love it, or do you accept it as an easy shorthand to help Non-"Celts" understand "who" you are?

As posted in a different thread already: What does it mean to YOU?

From filmmakers and politicians to mystic/black magic fans and satanists, so many people are using this word. So what is Celtic, anyway?

Oh, it sort of works as an easy shorthand for anything pertaining to the Celtic nations (although I note ( ) that the annual "Celtic Connections" music festival in Glasgow, while featuring a lot of Scottish, Irish, Basque, Breton etc performers, feels quite happy also to feature others, for instance, Joan Baez, and Martin Carthy, for no other reason than that they want to, I suppose. That seems OK - lots of good music)

Now, as for

“black magic”

“satanism”

I suppose I *could* check a dictionary with regard to those as synomyms for “Celtic”, but somehow I don’t think it would help explain.

Hey, I have a dictionary, too. He asked about the term "Celtic" and I wanted him to tell what he himself defines as Celtic or what the aim of his thread was.

As to Satanism: Satanists often abuse the term Celtic, tormented fragments of Celtic mythology and symbolism for their own purposes and for declaring that their "tradition" is an old European one. It is a weird kind of movement, indeed, but I think it is too serious to laugh about it.

[i]Hello...

Hope all are well...

I am moving this thread over to Religion and Philosophy. I don't see it fitting in music and art..
