We should never lose sight of the fact that our religious differences are just the continuation of a nasty family row.
Throughout history those have always been the most acrimonious.
Each generation takes on the burden of distrust & hate bequeathed by their progenitors, plus the cynical manipulations of Church & State

Fear_nam_Beanntan

"The reason I don't trust the accounts of Jesus' life that are contained in the Qoran is that the person who wrote the accounts was not an eyewitness to the events of Jesus' life, nor did he know any eyewitnesses. The only way the Qoran could be accurate was if it was inspired by God, which, as a Christian I don't believe. I think it more likely that the author read the Bible and invented new versions of the story of Jesus' life that fit better with Muslim theology."

Man, this book is not from Muhammed or any other man, this book is from God.

God say in qoran:
2. (This is) the Revelation of the Book in which there is no doubt,- from the Lord of the Worlds.

3. Or do they say, "He(muhammed) has forged it"? Nay, it is the Truth from thy Lord, that thou mayest admonish a people to whom no warner has come before thee: in order that they may receive guidance.
qoran

Fear_nam_Beanntan

look at those werses carefully

God said in qoran:

43. (This is) a Message(Qoran) sent down from the Lord of the Worlds.

44. And if the apostle(muhammed) were to invent any sayings in Our name,

45. We should certainly seize him by his right hand,

46. And We should certainly then cut off the artery of his heart:

47. Nor could any of you withhold him (from Our wrath).
qoran

can you imagine Muhammed say this words to himself, if Muhammed invent some words in qoran Allah(God)should kill him immediately as you can see from the verses above.

Talk about eyewitnesses. Muhammad came 600 years late. Plus his understanding of the Bible was hearsay as he could not read the Bible. No wonder he committed many blunders and introduced a polygamous lifestyle. There is not one prophecy worth the name. Whay call him a prophet?

I could also write a book that puts words in God's mouth.

"Thus saith the Lord, 'Islam is a horrible distortion of Judaism and Christianity. I am speaking these words through My apostle Ben. If Ben attempts to put words in My mouth that I did not actually say, I will strike Him dead.'"

But I'm not dead, because God didn't say any of it, including the threat.

I have no reason to believe that God said anything that the Qoran claims He said. Where are the fulfilled prophecies? Where is the confirmation of miracles? Where is the eyewitness authority of the Qoran's human authors? The Qoran claims to be the work of God, but why should I trust it?

Like all soldiers in a war, you are both fighting from entrenched positions.
Nothing in this world or the next is going to change either of you.
You would both do well to go back & study history starting with the religious freedom that was part of the Ottoman Empire & work out what happened from there.

Can any of you tell me who wrote this? I have lost the book that it was in.

"Where are the fulfilled prophecies? Where is the confirmation of miracles? "

ohoho, are you talking about miracles and prophecies, oh man you are talking about islam.

In islam there is many many prophecies and muhammeds miracles.

I have a islamic book about prophecies and signs who shall take place before day of judgment, in that book there is small and big signs before day of judgment, when i red that i was scared little, may be 70%-80% of small signs are allready take place.

Muhammed performed many miracles,

The splitting of the moon as His miracle

The miracle of the splitting of the moon was demonstrated before a certain gathering who persisted in denial of Muhammad’s Messengerhood. As was related by ‘Abdallah ibn Masud, while they were in Mina’ one night, the Messenger split the moon into two by a gesture of his index finger. The halves of the moon appeared one behind the mountain and the other in front of it. Then, the Messenger turned to us and said: ‘Be witnesses!’

God said in qoran:
The Hour is nigh, and the moon is split. But if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is evident magic’ (54:1-2)."qoran

Examples of the miracles of the healing of ill and wounded people

Authentic books of Tradition, including primarily Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih al-Muslim, report:

1. One day God’s Messenger asked where ‘Ali was. ‘He is suffering from sore eyes’, the Companions answered. He sent for him. ‘Ali came and the Messenger applied his healing saliva to his eyes. At the same moment the pain ceased and ‘Ali’s eyes became better than before.

2. Uthman ibn Hunayf relates:

A blind man came to God’s Messenger and requested him to pray to God to recover his eyes. The Messenger said: "If you desire, I’ll not pray—being blind may be better for your afterlife—or I’ll pray." The man chose to be relieved of blindness and the Messenger told him: "Go and do an ablution. Then pray and say: ‘O God! Surely my appeal is to You and I turn toward You through the Messenger Muhammad, the Messenger of mercy: O Muhammad, surely I turn toward God through you, that He uncover my sight. O God, make him my intercessor.’"

The Messenger’s protection as a miracle

1. As related through various channels, during the military campaign of Ghatfan and Anmar, a courageous chieftain named Ghowras unexpectedly appeared at the side of God’s Messenger, who was lying under a tree. Ghowras unsheathed his sword and asked God’s Messenger, ‘Who will save you from me now?’ God will, the Messenger replied. "God!" Then he prayed: "O God, suffice me against him in any way You will."

At that moment, Ghowras was knocked down and his sword slipped from his hand. God’s Messenger took the sword and asked him: Now, who will save you from me?

Ghowras began to tremble and entreated God’s Messenger to spare his life. ‘You are a noble, forgiving one; only forgiveness is expected of you,’ he pleaded. God’s Messenger forgave him, and when Ghowras returned to his tribe, he said to them: ‘I have just come from the best of mankind.’

2. Abu Hurayra relates:

Abu Jahl once asked those near him: ‘Does Muhammad still rub his face against earth [i.e. make prostration]?’

’Yes, he does’, they answered.

Abu Jahl added:

‘By Lat and ‘Uzza, if I see him doing that again, I will tread on his neck or bury his face with soil.’

A short while later God’s Messenger came and set out to pray. When he was in prostration, Abu Jahl approached him but suddenly turned back in fear and amazement, trying to protect himself with his hands. When asked why he had done so, he answered: ‘Truly, between him and me is a trench filled with fire, and something horrible and some wings.’

God’s Messenger commented on the event: "If he had approached me, the angels would have torn him to pieces."

God promised to guard him against people:

"O Messenger! Make known whatever is revealed unto you from your Lord, for if you do it not, you will not have conveyed His Message. God will protect you from people. Surely, God guides not the unbelieving folk (5:67)."
