My commentary on this week Parasha will be focusing on the Haftara, Hoshea / Hosea 2.2. This portion deals with the coming King, Mashiach (Messiah), and how Israel will take Him, and appoint Him as their leader.

Let's read the text: Hoshea Chapter 2:2 (in the Christian Bibles it is 1:11) Hoshea 2:2 And the children of Judah and the children of Israel shall be gathered together, and they shall appoint themselves one head, and shall go up out of the land; for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

Now I would like to point out that the whole goal, which our faith points to Mashiach. This is not and should not be so that we can have a nice religion, since there are plenty of them out there. Our goal is Melech Mashiach, and as Tehellim (Psalms) 2.12 says, "to Him we are to pay homage."

It is not a matter of a simple belief in a Mashiach, as some tend do. Some even say “Mashiach will eventually come, mean while, I will do this or that...” No, belief in Mashiach requires an active faith, that is, to believe that He is coming and we have to do something about it, we have to put action to our faith.

I have talked to many Jewish friends who do uphold to the idea of wanting Mashiach. Yet when it comes to the hard facts of true faith in Mashiach, they want their religious ideas rather then change their concept of who Mashiach is. I do not mean to change the Torah, but to change their mindset, the way they view Yeshua as Mashiach, the way they think of Yeshua as Mashiach, and everything else that goes along with it (having true Emuna / Faith).

The scripture I read at the beginning, Hoshea 2.2, goes well with the last verse of the book of Ovadyah / Obadiah: 21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be HaShem'S. {P}

The Hebrew root for saviours is moshi'im, which means just that "saviours," but it also is the root word for the Name of Mashiach Yeshua. Mashiach is our Saviour indeed, He is the Moshia Gadol (our Great Saviour). Israel will come together with Judah and appoint themselves a leader, a head, and you may ask, who will be this head? None other than Melech Mashiach!

We are to be the kind of people who emulate Mashiach to do what He does, and act as He would. We are to learn concerning His person.

I learned something from Rabbi Jack’s past newsletter concerning the real name of Bar Kochba, the man Rabbi Akiva declared as Mashiach approximately 135BC. It was Bar Kosiba, which means the son of the deceiver or liar. I find this very interesting considering that people of that time never noticed that his real name gave away who he was way before the tragic end of his life and the lives of many others who believed him to be the Moshia spoken by Obadia, or Hoshea.

If you listen to the news, and I hope your source of news is not CNN, because CNN lies, you cannot help but learn that President Bush is telling Israel what to do. The funny thing behind this is that if you know Hebrew, the Hebrew root word for "shame" is "bush" (Strong's 0954). You can also look, for example, at Tehellim 89:46 where the word for "shame" is busha, from the same root word!

As we compare what is happening today, and what I just said, we see that the President of the United States of America is telling Ariel Sharon, the voted and elected Prime Minister of Israel what do concerning the affairs of Israel! This, my friends is a busha for Israel. Ariel Sharon is listening to Bush, and to his own busha, Mr. Sharon is obeying the words of this President. Do you see what I'm saying? Just like our brothers of old who believed in Bar Kosiba, the son of the deceiver, so too Israel is listening to Bush to their own busha! President Bush tells Israel, there are no negotiations on this so-called "Road Map to peace." But when the last homicide bomber attacked U.S. citizens in Saudi Arabia, the President goes on television to say that the arm of U.S. justice will get them, and that there is not negotiating with terrorist. Bush is telling Israel to negotiate with terrorists! This a busha for Israel. The President is telling Israel to do what Bush said he would not do! Mashiach will come and will fight our battles, but today Israel is running after its lovers (as it says in Hoshea).

I participated in the recent march for Israel where people truly believe that the USA is Israel's friend. They say that the USA will not to betray us. But the most recent war with Iraq had a negative effect on the popularity of the USA among the Arab countries, so what does the USA do? Sell Israel to please the Arabs. Israel has become a bargaining token to appease the oil rich Arab nations.

On the other hand Israel says, we need the USA for trade, we need the European Union. In fact Israel considers herself almost part of the European common market, or a US satellite in the middle east, but they are neither!

I also find it interesting that the Prophet Hoshea speaks; as we read this morning’s haftarah that Israel's door will be closing as the Mashiach comes, and it is the work of G-d. It has to happen this way until the fullness of G-d’s timing for Israel. So there is still time for things to get worse in Israel. But soon enough there will not be any more room for their pride and that is when Melech Yeshua HaMashiach (King Yeshua the Messiah) will be revealed to them.

And then as the prophet Zecharyah says in 12.2-3: 2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of staggering unto all the peoples round about, and upon Judah also shall it fall to be in the siege against Jerusalem. 3 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a stone of burden for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.

This is when Mashiach comes together with the Moshi'im to fight along with Melech Mashiach to get our land back... Lets see what Zecharyah 12.9-10 says: 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they will look to me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son, and will grieve bitterly for him, as one grieves for his firstborn.

The important thing about all this is that we need to point out to the Jewish people, as well as to the rest of the world who Mashiach is. A lot of people have an idea who Mashiach may be, but sadly they are usually wrong about Him. We are to teach them who Yeshua is, that He is the Jewish Messiah. We are also to be the Or La'Goyim (the light to the Nations), which HaShem calls us to be.

Many Jewish people think that Yeshua is a Christian. Today when I spoke to an Orthodox Rabbi, he said that exact thing to me, but I answered, He is Jewish. The whole New Covenant is a Jewish Book, from Bere**** (Genesis) to Hitgalut (Revelation) all of it is Jewish, every one of the writers are Jewish, and they all thought and lived as Jews. What trace of gentile origins do you see? Scriptures do not speak of a Christian Messiah it is not there. He is the Jewish Messiah that came first for Israel, and then for all those who want to join to Him. He came to save the whole world.

Bush is not the hope of Israel; otherwise he is their busha. Israel must turn to G-d, and we need to show the world, in love, that "Melech Yeshua is Coming. Let’s ready ourselves together."
