Hi again, Revolution!
I would say most people find it comforting to believe in a higher power. Would you like to talk about what's going on in your life? I would enjoy talking/listening. You can reach me by clicking on the little email icon on this message. bye for now. |

Revolution2004...
This is just to say "Hi" and to let you know that I sent you an email (it's long, but please read it) sharing some of my beliefs and experiences. I do hope that you will find it helpful. And I'm also here if you'd like to talk about anything. |

Hey tomsawyer,
why do you say there is a God? How do you know that there aren't many gods? How does one believe in anything? Could you describe faith to me? I was raised in a occult (The DSA OCCULT), so I guess you could say that I have heard a lot of weird stuff.
anyways hope you are still on.. |

I'll take a crack at defining faith.
Faith is believing what cannot be proven, but what can be shown to be probable within the light of reason. For example, say a man objectively examines the historical and philosophical foundations for his religion, and finds that there is a high probability that it is true. He then decides to committ himself fully to this religion. The first step is reason, the second faith. Based on reason alone it is possible to make statements like "the majority of the evidence points to the existence of God" or "it is probable that the supernatural events described in the Bible actually happened." However, based upon reason alone there can be no certitude about these things. Faith is believing these things with certitude, even though reason can only show them to be probable.
