Christianity is no longer a force in the UK precisely because disputes between the various denominations over liturgies and formularies ultimately led to the fragmentation of the Church of England. In this day and age there still remains disunity and division between the many Christian sects throughout the world.Catholics hold many beliefs which are anathema to Christian evangelicals, for example their use of symbolic imagery in worship is something which many protestants find distasteful-so distasteful in fact that they view Catholicism with disdain. There are certain denominations which share common ground however the Christian church is a collection of various sects-some of whom have radically divergant views and some of whom are mutually hostile.Christianity has never been a unified body of thought and it never will be.
