Why is it so important that the holy texts were never edited?
It is the claim for both The Bible and The Quran.

If the holy texts were edited, then that would call into question the validity of the ideas taught in those texts, and also the credibility of the Church that did the editing.

If the holy texts were ever edited by an institutionalized church it would most likely be for the purpose of increasing their power i.e. it would be a distortion.
Besides, the Truth is supposed to be absolute, eternal, and unchanging.

I would like to retract the opening post of this thread. None of those verses count as evidence that the Church hasn't edited the Bible, because none of them are in any way troubling to Catholic doctrines.
