I first heard the name when I met my future wife, a Leith lassie (well actually Dryden St, off-Leith Walk) and that's what her family all called it and I noticed Edinburgh butchers labelled it as that too. To this day, I still have no idea why it's called Lorne Sausage. Perhaps it was a favourite of a Duke of Argyll's eldest son ? Or not ! |

Yes, I know it as Lorne - I was told that was a corruption of Larne as the sausage had its origins in Norn Ireland... but I'm quaite comfortayble using the weegie skwerr sossij description, anaw! (Note the uncomfortable mix of Morningsaide end Lallans there?)
