Update on Dribz

I told kathy I would post here

If you don't already know Dribz(Dribble) is my cat, she was a neglected cat that adopted us
about 18 years ago, she was about 2 years old then and weighed roughly 2 pounds...after a
couple of months her weight doubled and she has never looked back !!

I knew the family that had her before us and they had the cheek to demand money off of me
as they had her spayed, I told them where to go and if they continued to harrass me I would
report them to the RSPCA as I had taken photographs of her when she first came.................

I would have as well as I hate any cruelty to animals !!

Since we moved here 3 years ago the only time she goes out is in the car when we go south.
She settled in well and did not try to go outside even when the windows were open.

For about the last year she has been showing her age...stiff limbs and gradually drinking
more and more water.
I have had to get steps made for her to climb onto her favourite places and even then at times
I have to lift her to them !!

She has now started to howl to herself and I am sure she wants to go outside but I am
loath to let her as she doesn't know the surrounding and there are quite a few dogs around !!
(I also remember my sisters cat doing that and she let it out and it never returned...I know
some cats do go away to die )
In the last few weeks she has been drinking so much water she is making herself sick and the
last 2 months she will also bring up her food sometimes.

I know in my heart that she will not be here this time next year and all I can do is watch her
fail, until she is in pain the vet will not do anything apart from give her pills for aches and pains.

I don't have to tell you animal lovers that there are tears running down my face as I type this as you
will know how I am feeling !!

Oh I am so sorry. Poor Dribs. And poor Babz. All you can do, I suppose, is make sure her remaining time is as comfortable and happy as possible. Poor thing.

Babz, I'm so sorry to read about Dribz, it sounds like she is ready to go.

You have given her a wonderful and cared for life and have made her a loved and cherished member of your family. That is something to be happy about even if it's hard now.

you are in my prayers, so is Dribz.

As an animal lover while reading what you wrote I sat here with tears running down my face.
A few years ago I had a vet that told me if my cat at the time had really bad pain I could give her 1/2 a baby asprin mashed up in a little bit of food and it should help a little. I'm not going to say this is going to save her as it does sound like she is wanting to leave. I just thought it might ease some of her pain.
My thoughts are with you both. Her for having to go through it, you for having the courage to sit with her and love her while she does.
ok I'm gonig to go now because I'm starting to cry again and I'm sitting her at work.

so very sorry...

Babz,

I am so sorry to hear that Dribz is not doing well... I had no idea. I know you love her and want only the best for her. I would have to say that if she is not in pain, then she is blessed and you should be thankful for that part. I understand what it is to lose a beloved pet and it is one of the most terrible experiences ever. Continue to love her and care for the best you know how and all will be ok. You are so blessed to have had her for so long and she was blessed to have you and Jim there for her. I know Dadz loves her as well.

You are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this trying time.

Thank you for your thoughts and best wishes, I know it will have brought back memories for at
least one of you.

I asked the vet's assistant about giving Dribz some baby aspirin and she advised against it at
this moment in time.

I know she has always been a pampered cat but now she is an extra pampered one

At the minute she is under my computer desk and keeps nudging my feet to be picked up !!
