Summer is here and a lot of us are taking road trips. Then you stop at that little country inn or restaurant and leave the window down a couple of inches and go inside to eat or use the bathroom. Although with most people we bring our dogs, although some people have cats that like to go for a ride. Few people seem to realize how quickly the car heats up. If it's about eighty degrees F., the temperature can increase to well over a hundred. Many dogs die every summer from heat stroke. If you can't bring your pet into where ever you're going you should just leave them home. Also, don't forget the water. One more thing, hundreds of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens are put down every year. An inexpensive surgery can save many unwanted pets. Get your pet spayed or neutered. They make better pets too. Unless you're a breeder there's no reason for you to allow your pet to cause a further increase in the pet population. For males, both dogs and cats, the surgery is fairly simple, but even females, which require abdominal surgery are healthier and happier. With cats there is also the problem of FIV which sooner or later goes into feline aids. Our pets trust us and ask very little from us.
