Help!!

My cat pooped on the floor 2 days ago - right next to the litter box - and I just thought that maybe the litterbox was too dirty for her (which I don't think it was) so I completely changed the litter - and I get home from work today and she's pooped on the floor again - in nearly the same spot - just steps from the litter box.

The strange thing is that she is peeing in the litter box just fine - and she pooped in it once too.

WHAT IS THE DEAL??????????????????????????????

any ideas? She isn't acting sick?!?!

Typically Cats need to go in the litter box because they have needs to cover up their waste..

If she is not pooping in the box, it could be a number of things.. she might not be feeling well or perhaps.. did you change the litter brand? Be thankfull also that she is not pee'in on the floor cause that is just really a horrible smell to get rid of.

Give her a couple of days. Do you see any throw-up? Hair balls or anything like that? And what is the poop like? Is it soft or normall to hard?

It could be a few things.. but I would give her a couple of days to work it out.

the first time she did it, it was the same kind of litter - then the new litter i bought was half the old kind and half a new kind - she did throw up a hairball the other day - and as gross as it is - the poop is really soft but not liquid - she hasn't been eating anything new the past few days - just different flavors of the same brand of cat food she always has.

i might take her to the vet - but she is acting totally normal

She might just have a wee cold.. It's possible that its throwing her off..

Was there alot of food in the hairball.. or mainly foamy stuff?

And how soft was it? she might have a stomach thing.. I'm sure it will pass..

As for mixing litter.. well.. some cats are just that perticular.. lol.. I know My baby wont go in the box until I clean it.. if there is one of each in there.. I mean.. as soon as I scoop.. she jumps.. I think I spoiled her buy cleaning her box three times a day.. but I do it to keep my flat smelling normal..

Now.. I know that when the litter gets low in her box as well.. she is not happy.. totally.. so.. maybe she don't like the mixing.. but then again.. if that was the case.. she wouldnt pee..

My other girl pooped on the floor.. but she was terrified at the time.

Cats are unusual.. moreso the females.. lol.. prob not true.. but it seems that way..

Anyway.. since her poop is soft.. she might not be feeling well.. just give her a couple of days..

Oh yeah.. how is her nose? is it pink? wet? dry?

lol

You know.. I just thought of something else.. There is another girl kitty.. lol.. that I know of..

when she goes in the box.. she dont mean it.. but her bum is sticking out of the flap.. lol.. so she is totally missing the entire box.. no on spite.. just lack of .. sense? lol..

maybe that happened? maybe she was trying to walk away from what was in there.. in the box that is and stay towards the front.. and totally missed? lol.. It was funny when me and my BF seen why there was pee in the kitty mat... lol..

Just a thought.. if not anything else a cute story..

My brother-in-laws cat would poop outside the box to show that he was unhappy about something...for example if he had been taken to the vet, or there was too much company at the house, or if he had been left alone for too long.

Our cat could not get the hang of keeping his rear over the box...something would fall out over the side. So we found a litter box with sides 18 inches high except for the doorway and there is a little mat in front of it. That did the trick!

You might want to call your vet first and see if she thinks an appointment would be appropriate. Most vets would be happy to offer some suggestions over the phone.

generally, abby is not picky about the litter, nor does the litterbox have to be super clean (and she has 2 of them anyway) - i haven't been out of town, and no one has been over.

right now her nose is pink and dry - sometimes it's wet though. she's still eating and drinking - and running around the house like a crazy cat.

she defintely isn't just "missing the box" her litter boxes are sitting on a cut up shower curtain on the floor - she pooped on the carpet - a few steps away.

it looks like she's used both litter boxes overnight (generally she will only pee in one and only poop in the other - she's weird like that) - so hopefully she's better.
