Our cat licks my husband...I thought it was really weird, but he has had other pet cats that did the same thing!

So perhaps there are just certain people that are more flavorful to cats???

Anyway it is much less gross than dogs licking your face...much dryer!

I think cats do that as a sign of affection.

When a Mother cat has a baby.. She spends countless hours licking her newborn.. And I know that my BF's older cat did the same thing to the new baby he brought into the family.

I also know the needing they do with their paws when they climb upon you is from when they are wee kittens.. And they are drinking from their mommy for milk.. They kneed at the breast to get the milk out..

So I’m guessing when a kitty does that... it’s for affection.. And Love..

I agree, it is very sweet!

Our kitty is very affectionate to the whole family...I have more experience with kitties and scratching just the right spots by their ears...but Mark is usually the only one to get kitty's kisses!

well i hate "kitty kisses" - it's like tuna flavored sandpaper scraping my skin - icky!

my baby does the kneeding thing too - but she only does it to the teddy bear on my bed - it's kinda funny - she cant walk by it with out doing it.

Yeah, that does make it sound worse. I've never had a cat smell like tuna, perhaps it is because we only feed them dry food? but maybe I just never noticed because they don't lick me!

Its not that bad of a smell.. Dont ya eat tuna fish? Im not a fish eater at all.. lol.. infact I cant stand the smell of it.. but kissy kisses are fantastic.. lol..

I think a cats tounge is also pretty darn amazing. I guess its that way so when they clean themselves they get their loose hairs out? lol..Anyone know..

Dogs lick themselves but they dont have the same tounge..

Yes, cats have little runs of grooves on their tongues for grooming themselves, I must admit at first i found it strange when my first Cat years ago licked me..it was like..WTF is that..lol.. But now I don’t care, they can kiss and lick me as much as they wish.

Both actions ensure my part in their Pack, so I would worry more if they never showed any affection to me, or stopped altogether!
