1. Be cautious when handling your pet. An injured animal may respond by biting or clawing.

2. Wrap your pet in a towel or blanket. Keep him warm, then take him to a veterinary hospital.

3. Check if any other animals were hit, too. If so, call the non-emergency number of your local police department and ask for an animal-control officer. If you breing the animal to emergency veterinary facility, be aware that you may be responsible for the cot of helping the animal.
