They don't need to be walked, and you won't be stumbling over their litter boxes in the bathroom...but you do need to spend some time with them. Some birds are low-maintainence, others are intelligent, and social, and demand your attention. If they don't get what they need, they may develop problems that vary from biting and screaming to plucking out their own feathers. Some breeds need more human interaction than others, so choose your breed wisely. Some birds ;ive a century or longer---a long-term commitment by any standard!
