My wife is very much alive. I love her a lot. She has literally saved my life. I am prone to depression, and rely on writing and drugs to keep myself above despair. My wife has stuck with me through the darkest times. We have been married 26 years. I can still make her blush, and she can still make me laugh.

We have two daughters: Tegan is 25 and studying to be a nurse practitioner in San Francisco. She loves nursing and often calls me to describe, with enthusiasm, the lastest yucky procedure she has undertaken. We also have a 16-year-old, Caitlin, in high school who also works part time at an attorney's office. This kid has a spark of originality that delights and astounds me. She's smarter than me but reminds me of myself: I've always thought 'outside the box' and I suffered for it as a child.

My mother is still alive, in Perth. She is known in folkie circles as a traditional singer. My father, a commercial fisherman, died ten years ago in Murray Royal of Alzheimers. I have two brothers, one older, one younger, still living in Scotland, and an older sister in London.

My wife and I are blessed in having a group of brilliant friends -- academic type, musicians and a very skilful welder who also plays banjo... So the weekends are often a loud, funny, boozy musical riot.

I have lived in California for some 30 years. I am not yet 60.

Hey Sg and Pr....can I ask you to drop an email into the cat basket ?

Sorry to be obtuse, but there is method in my madness.

Sg, I sympathise with you over suffering from depression- it has been an affliction I have suffered from for some years, and I know how debilatating it can be. I hope you have found a way of managing it (cure seems to either be a Faustain pact with drugs or else suffer it as it is).

Go on....drop me an email, or I will have to talk to the cats all weekend again.

Will do JC. I've been discovering that the Black Dog visits many households, and not just mine. His appetite is never satisfied. i've come to recognize the socio/cultural element in depression... meaning we'll see a lot more sufferers if the US continues in its current direction...

But I have learned a lot... mostly.... WE ARE NOT ALONE.. and my contacts with honest, articulate, intelligent people have been sovereign. Which is why I have no tolerance for people with no integrity. Life too short. Sorry for all the ellipises.

Wink

sg,
You are a very honest and interesting and bright man. I am glad you have those you love with you.

I am 38 years old...live in Colorado. Grew up in Puerto Rico and the states...almost half and half. My husband is an islander all the way....and thought he could never learn English...not even with injections...lol. But he did...and also got enthused with learning Mandarin Chinese...oh, he speaks Mandarin with the most Puerto Rican accent and the Chinese nationals he studies English with....are impressed with his English accent and all...lol.

I have been married for twenty years since age 18 to him...and I am very lucky. I have diabetes. Inherited from my father....but dancing, exercise and strict diet it is very controlled and I am happy...for now...I am waiting to adopt a child from Mexico soon...how I look forward to being a mother. You are very intelligent and so much beauty in you as a person....I think I would like to make you an email buddy...

As for Jasper...ofcourse I will email you....look for mambera...you shall see...lol. Mucho amor a los dos...me despido...y cuiden sus gatitos y sus perritos...

I enjoy my work...I translate...and work with a lot of fun people. And my culture keeps me strong...besos.

PRgirl.

What did you name your kitten, anyway? We always let our kids name our cats. Big mistake. We've endured a succession of Snowflakes, Rainbows, Fairies and Tigers.
i named her abby - which is short for aberdeen - i wanted to name her something scottish.

aberdeen is the granite city and granite (and aberdeen) are very gray

and the kitty is a gray tabby - so in my mind it makes sense lol

not that she knows what her name is anyway
