"It was taking a while to house-train my puppy---he had so many accidents. Paper towels would absorb it a bit, but not totally, and I hated picking up the wet towels to dispose of them. I took one of my baby's diapers, dropped it down and pressed---it was amazing how much urine it absorbed in no time. Before I used the entire package, my puppy was house-trained."

"My roommate has two boxers, one of which recently required medication to be administered several times a day. The problem was that the well boxer, thinking he was missing out on a treat, would steal the sick boxer's pill by licking her face. Separating the two dogs during medication time didn't always work, as the sick dog could hold her pill in her mouth for quite a while, then spit it out, making the medicine available to the well dog much later. My roommate came up with a clever solution. At medication time, he smeared a small amount of butter on the well dog's forehead. The dog was so busy licking that he paid no attention to the medicine "treat" the sick dog was getting. The medicine also received a small smear of butter, and the sick dog swallowed it enthusiastically."

Hm I had issues with an American cocker spaniel, a rescue, it took her many months to be house broken. I think it's a problem because of her being abandonned...

It was SO NICE of you to take in an abandoned animal!! They get to be SO DEPENDEnNT on their human owners...then some get left behind...that is cruelty. It's neat that you took one in.

You are licky to be able to have more than one animal---I have a cat, and I'm "bending the rules" where I live by feeding a stray mother cat; she is SO SWEET, and comes to sit on my doorstep waiting until I come in to get her evening meal! She'll eat, then leave, only to return the next morning; she's tri-colored, with dainty paws, and a really sweet disposition. My ambition is to get her spayed (after her kittens are mature). All this is done 'on the sly' because the apartment manager doesn't like cats---

Aw that's very brave and courageous from you! Please keep it going, the animals are so dependant from us... and it's so special when they finally open up!

Oh, I know!! I just LOVE IT when an animal (in this instance, this stray cat) just "hangs out" at my apartment.
They realy are so sweet! I especially love it when my cat decides I'm a piece of warm-blooded fruniture...and falls asleep on my stomach! Talk about trust...
