Hello from rainy California! Would like to write with people from Scotland and make new pen pal friends.
Some basic general info. about me: -Age:38 -Female -Single Parent of one 9 year old son -Native Californian -Oldest of 4 siblings -Am part Scottish -Like to travel -Studied business -Entrepreneurial Have not yet traveled to Scotland, but did travel nearby there to and in England (Coventry, Stratford, London) back in '88. Planning to visit Scotland someday with my son. Regarding my heritage, my Grandmother's maiden last name was Robinson. If anyone has any info. about this (clan?) last name, would be good to learn more. If not, that's okay, would just be nice to make some new friends from afar. Good wishes, Tanya in Northern CA |

Howdy Tanya,
I've been over a few times and am going back this coming fall. Its AWESOME over there. The Scottish aren't to friendly with there neighbor to the south at times. So saying you've almost been there but were in England may not get you some response.Just trying to help. I'm 48 with a 10 year old son and I'll wait till he's in his teens before taking him over.I've already got his intrests stirred about Scotland as our family is from over there also. The McLaughin's and Scott's are from Northeast around Inverness and Orkney. It took a long time for me to chase down any information on family. There are services that will find relatives for you but they tend to be expensive and if you don't have much to go on they may steer you wrong.Beware. Brit-Rail has great passes and will save you money thru out your travels.I found the train safe and clean.Go in the fall motel rates are cheaper and there's vacancies. The weather has been GREAT at this time of year also. If you would like any more help or infomation it would be great to hear from you.I live in South Florida and my ads above yours on http://www.Scotland.com/personal ads Good Luck in your travels. Keep Smiling, Roderick |
