A New Life in Scotland (imminent)

Hi all on this BB & personals site. Hope You've got over Hogmanay now!
I shall be arriving in Inverness district soon to start a new life - the previous one's haven't worked & this is so far off the wall that it has too!
I am a 40ish single bloke from the English Westcountry and shall be starting work with the scottish Wildlife Trust this month. I am really looking forward to it - the joy of working outside in the middle of winter! ;~@
I am still searching for suitable accommodation though. Place needs to be cheap(ish) as I am on a ESF sponsored course and I am entitled to Housing Benefit/DSS towards the cost (tho' it never covers it all does it?) and I need space for my two, well behaved, medium sized, 5yr old lurchers. Also within 10-12mile radius of Inverness. The course lasts 1 year and I am not really into holiday lets - more long term where I can feel at home with the mountains behind me & the sea in front (dream on McQ!).

Aslo seeking some social life when I arrive - any "must visit" pubs etc?

Anyone got any ideas as to accommodation or social life please hasten a reply.

Our fearless moderator, Peteman, is up in Inverness and no doubt would have some good info. for you but alas, he has been so ill the last couple weeks we have not heard much from him. (But we're hoping for his recovery soon!)
The job sounds wonderful! I hope you are able to find the housing you "dream" of.
