Hello guys - I've just come into work and read all your replies.

Yes it should be legalised but then it would probably be taxed.

I liked the rhyme.

Hiya all,

Hope your all doin' great!!!!!

Just thought I would add my thought on the legalisation debate!! I personally feel that all recreational drugs should be legalised. Surely using drugs that have been produced in a safe environment, and have not been polluted with other substances which allow the dealers to make more money,
would greatly reduce the health risks. I feel that most drugs can be used safely in moderation and probably do less damage to us than the already legalised drugs of alcohol and tobacco. Of course you will have the minority who abuse drugs just as we already have those who abuse alcohol and tobacco!! But people are currently dying because they do not know what is actually in the drugs that they are taking. Drug use has been with us since the beginning....there are very few cultures throughout time that have not used drugs to a greater or lesser degree. It is time society stopped sticking its head in the sand....and demonising and criminalising those who choose to use drugs on a recreational basis. This is an issue that will not disappear and the so called war on drugs is failing and in my opinion can never be won!!

Just as an example there was a terrific study in carried out in Liverpool, can't recall the name of it right now. But basically it was maintaining heroin addicts by administering heroin instead of the dangerous and even more addictive methadone. The participants whose lives had been ruined by their addiction, began to become functioning members of society again...holding down jobs, repairing and maintaining family relationships and no longer involved in crime. Their health greatly improved too. Surely this is preferrable to the current situation. In terms of finances...i am sure it would be cheaper to maintain these addicts in this way than carry the cost, in terms of the amount of crime carried out by addicts to maintain their habit and the welfare bill to look after these addicts and their families because they cannot work. The human cost of course cannot be forgotten.

Anyway I have ranted enough....probably doesn't even make much sense....it isn't a carefully constructed political argument ...just my thoughts!!!! Would be imterested to see what you all think!!!!

take care
Linda

Linda - wow girl can you talk!

I do agree with most of the things you say - but I'm not really that bothered, as long as I can get my regular fix I'm ok.

Must go got loads of work to do.
