Hi Irish Highlander,
Congrats on your first trip to CA...I personally live on the East Coast in Virginia. Let me know if you ever come here or to Washington, DC...I'd love to meet you! I hope you like it here--you'll have to tell us which part of CA you're coming to, and don't forget to stay in touch with all of us on Scotland.com. Cindy

Hi Irish-Highlander,
I thought you were currently in San Bernadino? whereabouts in CA did you plan on going? I would have lots of recommendations but it would be nice to know of your general interest. Where have you been living most of your life?

BTW, Irish Highlander,
What is your major in? How long are you due to be in the States? The Giant Redwoods are definately worth seeing, (Kings Canyon is probably closest to you)
Being in San Berdino makes sense to me if you were teased about wearing your kilt. The closer you get to the coast, as a rule of thumb, the more free thinking people are. Even tho' it's CA, there are still a lot of "Red-Necks" out there, especially in the "inland" valley.

Congrats on your first trip to CA, to bad your not coming to Georgia. I don't think you should wear a kilt to the US. Although I love men in kilts, not all people think the way I do. Here there's a dress code people go by, and wearing a kilt doesn't fit into that code. I think you might get teased, but if you want to wear a kilt then wear it. Hope you have a great time in CA!!

Hi Irish Highlander,
As I mentioned...stay close to the Coast in CA & you'll fit right in! There is an Irish Pub called Hennessey's in Carlsbad about 1/4 mile from the beach that I'll take ye to & you'll be the treated like gold!
