I'm will be visiting Scotland in the next year or so and want to get in touch with old school mates who attending Dalmellington High School in Ayrshire. I left this area in 1966 to come to Australia and would love to organise a reunion.
If you attended this school at this time get in touch . I'd love to see as many of you as possible |

Hi bal3b What's your real name. I was brought up in Dalmellington Ayrshire and lived there for 16 years before coming here.
I am getting itchy feet at present and would really like to go to see My Ain Folk. I hope I have enough money as it's getting pretty pricey over there. I can stay with my family so that will help. I'll e-mail you soon with lots more info |

Hi Anni,
just read your note. My real name is Jane. I understand what you mean about itchy feet. Even though I dont remember anything about Scotland I still have a strong desire to return and see my homeland. My husband often stirs me by saying that when he retires and gets his super he will go over,he is 9 yrs my jnr so he kind of figures that I wont be around then. Did you come to Australia on the Fairstar or the fairsky? We came on the Fairstar. Anyway better go as its getting late. talk soon. Regards Jane. |

Hi Jane - No I came on a plane full of migrants and it was a shocking flight.
Kids crying. The heat when we arrived in Iran which was Persia in those days was awesome what with my sister and I in wooly suits. My God I thought I'd die of the smell alone. There was a stench in the air that has stayed with me till this day. I love Australia but I do miss Scotland . Anyway woman outlive men so your husband has buckleys of going it alone. ha ha Anni |

Hi Anni,
How are you? My hubby had a smile on his face with the ending of your note. I thought it was quite good. Anyway where did you go when you first came to Australia? We went to the Hostel at Villawood in Sydney. We then lived at Cabaramatta for a few months and then to Old Guildford.(out Fairfield, Merrylands,Granville) way. My family surname is Longland. My mothers maiden name was McMillan. I know it's a long shot, but maybe you might know the names. My dad is from Yorkshire England so I have mixed blood.haha. What state are you living in now. I know I am writting and asking lots, I hope you don't mind. Anyway till next time take care regards Jane |
