I am first generation American. My Dad was born in Greenoch. At some point I hope to visit Scotland, but that is far away at this point. I am looking to learn more about Scotland, everyday life and culture. I would like to find a pen pal or two. My family name is McClintock.

Hi there,

I would love to chat about scotland - I live in Glasgow (not far from Greenock) - I work as a Multimedia lecturer and developer.
My dad came from the Ukraine and my mum from the Shetland islands (far north of Scotland)
I am fairly knowledgeable about all aspects of Scottish society and culture - so ask away and we can chat.

Andrew,
Since your mother is from the Shetland Islands maybe she can make a travel recommendation. I will be in Scotland in March and was wondering how cold it is there during that time of year. Cold is relative - for me anything below 40F is a tundra. Are the Shetland Islands easy ot get to? Can you take a boat or must you travel by air? Thanks! janice

ferguslee,

Hi, I want to know all about anything in Greenoch. Did you know anyone with the last name of McClintock? It has been a long time, but I know that I am supposed to still have cousins in Greenoch. What is your favorite food from Scotland? What is your favorite music? etc. etc. Write back!

ferguslee,
I currently live in Alabama, but lived in Jackson, MS for several years. We're going to Scotland this spring. Will I survive the cold weather over there?

jwinmtgy,

where abouts in scotland are you going?? The weathers not that bad you know ive survived lving in the highlands for the past 20 years so take my word for it. Bring a warm preferably waterproof (!) jacket and you should be fine. A few whiskeys and you'll soon be warmed up anyway!!!
