Cool

HI

my grandfather was Archibald Ross, born in Brambley, in Leeds, whose father was from Leath, Scotland. Does this place exist and does anybody have any further information on the Ross name ?

Thumbs up Leith

The place you are looking for is Leith, which is the port town for the capital city, Edinburgh. Leith was probably most famously mentioned in the book Trainspotting, which took its name from the phrase "Trainspotting at Leith Station", which is a term for a pointless activity as Leith Station has been closed for decades.

The name Ross, I believe, originates in Ross-shire in the far north of Scotland. You might find the link http://www.stas.net/gen/roc.html useful. It is a Ross & Cromarty genealogy site.
