The place you are looking for is Leith, which is the port town for the capital city, Edinburgh. Leith was probably most famously mentioned in the book Trainspotting, which took its name from the phrase "Trainspotting at Leith Station", which is a term for a pointless activity as Leith Station has been closed for decades.
The name Ross, I believe, originates in Ross-shire in the far north of Scotland. You might find the link
http://www.stas.net/gen/roc.html useful. It is a Ross & Cromarty genealogy site.
