American looking to chat

Not sure why I write this post. Perhaps I have always been curious about Scotland. My father played the pipes and I grew up knowing my scottish roots. We went to the games at Grandfather Mountain, North Carolina, USA. I watched my father toss the caber and I danced the highland fling and sword dance as a child. My father bushy eyebrows he never trimmed. I long for those days. He has been gone since 91' and I just recently got from his collection of scottish clothing his sporrans (2). Always have loved them and remember how he wore them with his kilt. The strength he had in his heart and how he wanted to have his ashes spread over the highlands. He never was to see the highlands again, in life nor in death. I miss him dearly. Perhaps that is why I choose to write this note to a totally random stranger on this cite.

I have always wanted to come to Scotland and rent a car and ride down the sea sides. I am 50 and have a 9 and 10 year old. I will probably never see Scotland. It is a dream though and no one knows what life will bring. In pictures it is a beautiful place full of hills and heather, thistles, and castles. Although I think that Brave Heart and Rob Roy are not stellar dipections of Scotland...I see houses and landscape that is more beautiful than I could ever imagine. I was reading a post about what Americans see in Scots...I see my father. I see what a beautiful, peacefulness Scotland has. I see the laughing, which I do as often as I can.

Don't think me weird, please. Just needed to write anonymously and without judgement from those who know me. Perhaps feeling a little melancholy. I just recently separated from my husband and the children are away on visit with him. Miss them but enjoy the quiet as well...LOL

Feel better now ...perhaps you will post back.

I've tourguided 3 times round the Highlands with friends from Orlando.
