Just another American lass looking for her Scot

I've seen a few others post along these lines, and while it does appear there are as many Scotland-yearners as Scots, I thought I'd at least give it a go. I'm a very young at heart 41 year old who's had a lifelong fascination with redheads and Scotland. After two trips, I'm more smitten than ever. I just about couldn't bear to leave the Hebrides! I'm well educated, a world traveler, intellectual, a bit of a geek (I'm a huge Tolkien fan!), and have an adventurous spirit. After several contented years solo, I'm casting my net out to a place and culture that I adore. So, laugh if you will, but as is said, there's no harm in trying.

It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to." ~J.R.R. Tolkien ;o)

Be still, my heart! You're even quoting Tolkien!! But I do wonder... are you a Yank like me? I should have looked at your profile before replying, but I was just too excited.

I'm from Edinburgh Scotland, I was encouraged by a pal to read The Hobbit when I was only 11years old and the LOTR followed shortly after. This was in the late seventies. I had the map of Middle Earth on my wall, and re-read the book several times but It's been many moons since I last read.

Oh, that's tremendous. Despite my love of fantasy and sci fi, somehow I missed all Tolkien (except The Hobbit) until the movies came out. Then I inhaled them. Thanks for replying! I don't suppose you happen to be in the market for a Tolkien geeky American lass...

Can I please borrow that map of Middle Earth for a very long time?
