I am 60 years of age but feel twenty years younger. Most weekends in the summer I am up in the Highlands, walking or talking photographs but in the winter most weekends you will find me in various hostalries having a few drams watching and listening to my son's heavy metal band.

Why do the Americans like Scotland so much? Our history has a lot of romance attached to it, although much of that is exaggerated. We have given a lot to the world with many great inventions coming from Scots. We have writers such as R L Stevenson and Sir Walter Scott who gives romantic images of the country.

Then we had so many famous people in our history - William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Bonnie Prince Charlie (although he was a bit of a let down) and Mel Gibson did his Braveheart bit that was about as factual as Santa Claus.

Why do you love Scotland? Because we are a happy bunch, don't mind making fools of ourselves and like to laugh - a lot. Of course we make the amber nectar and that helps!
Doesn't matter how tall you are, what you look like, etc. What matters (to make a Scottish guy sexy) is that beautiful Scottish accent. It will melt any Lasy's heart.

I think there is Scottish in everyone. So much wonderful heritage has been passed down her in the States. So many famous people who have enriched our lives. Yes, I love the humor and the amber-colored liquid stuff is quite good.

Well, there's the accent- so earthy somehow and rough, and basically a complete aphordisiac to most Americans. Scotsmen are viewed as being very virile, I guess? I feel like there must be some more anthropological explanation, but don't care to examine my prejudices too closely.

I always find that I can have a very romanticized view of cultures I haven't had a lot of contact with... and THEN, when I actually go to these places and meet the people, I love learning about them and their countries... but weirdly, usually I come away with a sense that I'm not as inclined to view the men of that culture as any more attractive than the men in my own culture (happened when I went to England, Italy, Ireland, etc). In the end, men are still men, and I'm generally attracted to a very small number of them (and usually only those guys who exhibit intelligence, a good sense of humor, etc).

Then again, I've never been to Scotland, so who knows?

So you like the mystery and the differences but as soon as that mystery goes and those differences become understandable and no longer so "different" the attraction is lost?

Around the world American females seem to have a bad reputations with guys with accents.
