Well it certainly worked for many Italian men who married Scottish women after the war. A lot of the girls I went to school with were named D'Angelo, Risi, D'Agostino etc.

We have a HUGE Italian-Scots population in Scotland. So many of our famous ice-cream shops were started by people like Nardini on the West coast of Scotland. Sir Charles Forte had a huge hotel/cafe empire here. Oh and let's not forget Edinburgh's finest deli

I actually have seen that there is a good number of Scottish celebs that have Italian surnames which looks quite strange... I heard that there is a big Italian community over there... I guess that Italians have something in common with Scots... I remember them when they came to Italy for the World Cup in 1990 and were hosted in my city... much fun everywhere!
I also met such a cute guy.... unfortunately I lost contact after the World Cup...

Many Scots families with Italian ancestry have been in Scotland since the late 1800s and early 1900s. Then there were a lot of Italian PoWs in Edinburgh during the war, who chose not to go back to Italy and married Scotswomen.

I don't really think that the Scots and Italians are alike - our temperaments are quite different. Just ask my friends who had Italian Dads and Scots mums; the full-blooded arguments were amazing.

What are the main differences between Scots and Italians then?
For sure, Scots don't look cold blooded like the Englishmen...

Well, that's a bit of a sweeping statement, for a start...

We should start from something... and as I've told you, I am not very into Scottish culture...
I actually tried learning Gaelic but it's awfully difficult... I have quite a complete course I found on the Net but it's so difficult to remember all the rules!
