Well it certainly worked for many Italian men who married Scottish women after the war. A lot of the girls I went to school with were named D'Angelo, Risi, D'Agostino etc.
We have a HUGE Italian-Scots population in Scotland. So many of our famous ice-cream shops were started by people like Nardini on the West coast of Scotland. Sir Charles Forte had a huge hotel/cafe empire here. Oh and let's not forget Edinburgh's finest deli http://www.valvonacrolla.co.uk/ |

Many Scots families with Italian ancestry have been in Scotland since the late 1800s and early 1900s. Then there were a lot of Italian PoWs in Edinburgh during the war, who chose not to go back to Italy and married Scotswomen.
I don't really think that the Scots and Italians are alike - our temperaments are quite different. Just ask my friends who had Italian Dads and Scots mums; the full-blooded arguments were amazing. ![]() |
