Everyone loves a Scotman ?

It's good. Not saying I would never look for or at anyone else, just saying it was good.

From everything I know of the "typical" Scot, he fit. 6'10", 285 lbs, quick temper but quick to get over it also, as loving and gentle as he was explosive and stubborn. He had pride in his family and himself and would have done anything to protect those he loved.

I've never known any other group of people to be like that, plus, I love huge men : )

Well, I never thought that Scotland was a land of giants. . . . You should see the men over here though! Not concerned with much more than themselves! I'm sure there are a lot of characteristics that are world-wide, no question. But most Americans are So caught up in Too Much. Too much money, too much material, too much TV, too much crappy new music, too much of too many things I can't stand. I think it has a lot to do with lack of a true culture or history. Do you think? Or I am I just Way off base?

I do get some rather cool looks as I am 6ft long black hair and wearing a kilt! (Especially in CA!)

I am from New York actually and I totally agree with you.. I am proud of being an American.. I am proud of being my Parents child.. to put it plainly.. I canni help where I was born, nor can I help what religion they chose to bring me up in.. and all the rest..

But at an older age now.. I can certainly make connections with what you speak of.. as I too was entrolled in too much of too much.. lol..

I will never stop trying new mucis.. nor would I ever stop lookin at the newest fashions.. but I understand now, that Material possessions are meaningless... I understand how a person can get caught up with competing with the "Jones" and this is to say, in my opinion, Money is the root of all evil.. Sure it helps if ya have it.. but I do not see it making a person happy.. Content.. and overly flamboyant.. but happy? Not in a true sense...

So what's the solution? There's most likely not one. I moved to a small town where my family is all from (just under 4,000) from Charlotte. I see less of the things that I saw there, except that some people here seem covetous of the things I left behind. I just want a simple, peaceful life. Why should that be so hard to find?

Mostly, in my case, I'm in the battle between wanting to live my life as well as I can without the need for someone else in it while at the same time wishing for someone new to share it with. These two issues do not work well together. So, do I really just want to run away from the life I have here to try something new? Am I simply wanting to run as far away as possible? I see nothing here but the routine of meaningless work and being around the same people that I always am. . . I want more!

And it would seem your two different wants there, will create a problem. But I do feel it is possible to share your life with someone, and at the same time... be separate. It would of course have to be with both parties wanted...

Also... the running away part... well it depends on how you go about looking at that... You see, I do not see it that way... I look at it as trying something new. Taking a different path in life... Hey you know... what's the worst that can happen? You make a U-Turn? I donno... It's a mixed up decision on both ends. You see... when You stay idle in life, people accuse you of being lazy, content, and boring... but on the other hand... when you move about... or take risks.. Or dive into something completely different, your called a Flake... Unstable... lol... and Crazy... Well... who knows you know... You just have to do what is in your heart... What you feel is right for you... It’s really the only thing I know what to say to someone.
