Social Gatherings in Edinburgh?

Hi all,

Well, I'm finally married and settled in Edinburgh, and I'm absolutely loving it so far. The trouble is actually MEETING people to socialise with! I enjoy my husband's friends, but I really would like to develop my own circle of friends here. I work with nice people, but not too many in my still (relatively) young age group!

Do people here ever organise social gatherings here? Or is everyone too widely distributed to make that possible?

welcome also to the site from me kate...

and in answer to your question...we used to every year actually sometimes more than once, in various places too not always even in scotland...but most of the old gang dont come by much now, I even left for a while too, but I guess that is the way with life, we all move on....

I am sure though if you hang about long enough and we build up another gang(lol) its something we would and could do again...

I did infact, last June, do the whole "meet up" party in Callander Scotland.. It was fantastic.. Odd at first, as I did go alone.. but as it turned out.. I have a new Best Friend from the experiance.. lol.. however she lives in Iowa.. lol.. but still we chat daily.. lol.. sometimes more then once a day..

It was a great experiance.. and I plan on going again and again and again .. etc.. lmao..

BTW I loved Edinburgh.. I felt soooooo much at home walking about town.. It was busy with People.. many in suits.. on a lunch break or whatever.. lol.. I am from New York, and out of all the places I went.. Edinburgh felt the most Homey to me

My husband was raised in Callandar, it's not a huge town so was interested to hear you had been there! Was it a family reunion or something?? Just being nosy!
