Hello, I'm from Australia and longing to go back to Edinburgh- it is my favourite place. About five years ago I was waiting for a taxi at Edinburgh airport and a beautiful man approached me and dared me to run for one ofr the taxis that were cruising past our line. We shared the taxi and had a fantastic chat, he asked for my phone number in Edinburgh, and we went our separate ways. I was off to a party in St Andrews and he was off to a wedding. I don't even remember his name! He called me about three times that weekend, even calling the mobile of my friend that he'd got from the answering machine of the house I was staying at in edinburgh. But I resisted temptation- i was engaged at the time, and I'd left my fiance in London and was determined to make our relationship a faithful one. But... I never stopped thinking about the guy in the taxi, and my fiance is now my ex-fiance: I just couldn't bring myself to marry him and we parted about a year ago. I lost the bit of newspaper with the scottish guy's number on it that I'd scribbled down when he called my friend's mobile in St Andrew's, and now every time I see something about Scotland I think of what might have been. My friend moved from the house in edinburgh not long after Ivisited so there was no chance of him contacting me through that number again. So. unless he is trawling the world looking for me too(which i doubt after the way I rejected him), I think I've lost him forever! Sad story...Any ideas re: how I could go about finding him? imagine how romantic...

Hi Louise, welcome to Scotland.com..
I hope you find your man, and your right it would be romantic if you did seek him out after all this time.. and who knows maybe you will also complete your serendipity.. I am going to move this post over into the Personal Ads section, hopefully there you may have better luck.. though without a name or anything to go on I dont fancy your chances much. There is an old saying that if you, stay in a city and you, stay in the one place (normally the central well...hey I said it was an old saying..lol) long enough, everyone sooner or later will pass by.. though it does sound like a bit of a long shot..lol Good luck in your search Louise T |

[i]Hello Louise
I have just read your post and I must say.. I would love to hear back from you one day that you have found Him.. ![]() A friend of mine, actually the women at the salon.... lol.. was telling us a story about a time when she went on a date with this man over three years ago.. She had a wonderful time and really wanted to start a relationship with him, however, at the same time, she had just started seeing this other gentleman. Anyway, she decided that she would stick with the one she started seeing first, and so she tucked the other man's telephone number away. After several months, she realized that she couldn't get this man out of her mind, so she decided that she would give him a call. She tried and tried to find his phone number, but she just couldn't remember where she tucked it away. She was quit upset, but she moved on with her life, not seeing anything else to do. Just recently, she was away.. lol.. on holiday actually, I do not remember where, but she ran into him .. over three years later.. lol.. aye.. not even in her home state.. lol.. Sounds far fetched? Well aye, I was floored as well when she told me.. but they are now recently engaged to be married.. .. I know it may sound silly, but I've always believed in the possibility that Faith plays a part in our lives and if something was meant to be, it will find a way to happen.. I hope that someday you find what your looking for and I wish you the best! Mistress |

Hi. Louise again. No, I haven't found him yet, and forgot about it for again for a while, but just came across this site again read your replies. Wonder if I tried advertising in a Scots paper.Maybe I could make it a nationwide search- inspiring all the romantics in Scotland! It feels such a challenge, I would love to find him...
your replies make my plea sound credible, and make me feel hopeful! Don't think I'll give up on this one just yet! Thanks. |

Oh, Louise, what a "nice" story. I felt my heart when I read it.
Do you believe in coincidence? Then try everything you have in mind and never give up! I hope you will find him. Please, let us know when you're successful. Good luck! Carmen

Quite right. I will keep searching for him- if only to tell him that he made such an impression on me that I will remember him all my life! Pity I can't remember his name, his number., where he lived...( what a romantic fool I am...) I have a feeling it was Bruce- which is probably Scotland's most popular male name and I think he was a builder, or made furniture or something...(very vague, I am!)! I can picture him, and I think he would recognise me too- just have a feeling he would (not arrogance, more a conviction)
What a great site this is- I think I will become a regular contributer in any case. |
