Looking for Blanton Family Members
Greetings to all!
I have been anointed with the task of gathering the family history. I do enjoy a good investigation, and most certainly like studying history.
I have collected ancestry through America, back to the landings here of 1654. Before that, the Blanton name is descended from the Clan Campbell.
The surname Blanton is traced back to the fifteenth century and is a corruption of the ancient Scotch border family name Ballantine, the evolution being through Ballantine, Blantine, Blanten to Blanton. In an old manuscript dated 1459, reference is found to the family, and in an older manuscript, John Blanton, evidently of the same family, is named. At the time Queen Elizabeth reigned, the family was seated in Lancashire
This Crest is believed to have been granted to the Blanton Family in 1508 under the reign of King Henry VII. Originating in Lancashire County, England, the name Blanton has two meanings: One is "Dweller at a homestead at the end of a Hamlet" and another is "One who dwells at the farm with horses."
Is there anyone on here from North West England, or Cumberland?
