Thank you, Scotsgait. I have, in fact, written to Glasgow City Council but that was just last week. Am hoping for a response, if only to confirm that they did not arrange the adoption. Have also written to St. Margaret's and St. Andrew's Children's Societies. If, however, it was privately arranged (I've been told that was quite common at that time) then I shall just have to give up the search, I think. And yes, I do realise that she may not wish to be 'found' and that will be entirely up to her, of course. I would not be able to make a direct approach anyway, and quite right, too.
